Overview
The Golden Ambrosian Republic was a short-lived Milanese republic founded in Milan on August 14, 1447. Established by members of the University of Pavia with popular support during the Milanese War of Succession, it faced conflicts against France, the Republic of Venice, and the Swiss. The republic was dissolved on March 25, 1450, when the condottiero Francesco Sforza abolished it and became Duke of Milan.
