Overview
Bali is an Indonesian island and province, located as the westernmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands, east of Java and west of Lombok. Established as a province on August 14, 1958, its capital is Denpasar, which is also the most populous city in the Lesser Sunda Islands. The province includes the main island of Bali and several smaller offshore islands. Bali is Indonesia's primary tourist destination, with tourism-related businesses accounting for 80% of its economy. It is the only Hindu-majority province in Indonesia and is known for its developed arts, including dance, sculpture, and music. Bali is also part of the Coral Triangle and home to the Subak irrigation system, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
