Overview
The Beylik of Saruhan, also known as the Sarukhanids or Principality of Saruhan, was an Anatolian beylik centered in Manisa. Founded around 1300 by the tribal chief Saruhan, its origins are theorized to be Oghuz or Kipchak. The beylik existed until 1390 when it was first overrun by Bayezid I, and then definitively dissolved in 1412. In that year, Ottoman Sultan Mehmed I killed Hızır, the last Saruhan ruler, and absorbed the territory into the Ottoman Empire as a province.
