Overview
Bolivia, officially the Plurinational State of Bolivia, is a landlocked country located in central South America. Founded in 1825, it is a sovereign state with a diverse geography, including an Andean region to the west and tropical lowlands to the east and north. The country encompasses a wide range of climates and biomes, from the Amazonian plain to the high-altitude Altiplano plateau. Bolivia is bordered by Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, and Peru. While the constitutional capital is Sucre, the seat of government is La Paz. With an area of 1,098,581 square kilometers, Bolivia is the fifth-largest country in South America and the largest landlocked country in the Southern Hemisphere.
