Overview
The Bourbon Restoration was a period in French history from 1814 to 1830, marking the return of the House of Bourbon to power after Napoleon Bonaparte's fall. Exiled monarchist supporters returned to a France significantly altered by the French Revolution. Following the Napoleonic Wars, the kingdom experienced a period of peace, economic stability, and the early stages of industrialization. The Restoration, which began in 1815, effectively ended on August 9, 1830, with the July Revolution during the reign of Charles X, leading to the July Monarchy.
