Overview
Girona is a municipality and the capital city of the Province of Girona in Catalonia, Spain. Situated at the confluence of the Ter, Onyar, Galligants, and Güell rivers, it is also the capital of the comarca of Gironès and the vegueria of Girona. In 2024, the city had an official population of 106,476, with the Girona–Salt urban area estimated at 156,400 in 2020. Located 99 km northeast of Barcelona, Girona is a popular tourist destination due to its well-preserved old quarter.
