Overview
Touraine is a historical province of France, with Tours as its capital. Founded in 1584 CE, it was one of the traditional provinces of the country. Following the political reorganization of French territory in 1790, Touraine was dissolved and primarily formed the Indre-et-Loire department, while also contributing to parts of the new departments of Loir-et-Cher, Indre, and Vienne.
