Overview
The Electorate of Baden was a state within the Holy Roman Empire, existing from 1803 to 1806. It was founded on April 27, 1803, when the Imperial diet granted the office of Prince-elector to Charles Frederick. However, the Electorate was dissolved on July 12, 1806, following Francis II's dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. After this, Baden gained sovereignty, and Charles Frederick assumed the title of Grand Duke.
