Overview

The Emirate of Diriyah, also known as the First Saudi State, was a polity that existed on the Arabian Peninsula from 1744 to 1818. Founded by Muhammad bin Saud Al Muqrin, the emir of Diriyah, and religious leader Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, it propagated the Wahhabi religious doctrine under the political leadership of the House of Saud. This socio-religious reform movement was established through a pact between the two leaders.
