Overview
The Frisians are an ethnic group indigenous to Northwestern Europe, inhabiting coastal regions of the northern Netherlands, northwestern Germany, and southwestern Denmark. They are concentrated in the Dutch province of Friesland and in East and North Frisia in Germany. Frisian languages are spoken by over 500,000 people, with West Frisian officially recognized in the Netherlands, and North Frisian and Saterland Frisian recognized as regional languages in Germany.
