Argentine Republic

The Argentine Republic, commonly known as Argentina, is a country located in the southern cone of South America. It is the second-largest country in South America and the eighth-largest in the world, covering an area of 2,780,085 km2. Argentina shares borders with Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, and Uruguay, and claims a portion of Antarctica. The modern country originated from Spanish colonization in the 16th century, succeeding the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. Argentina declared independence on July 9, 1816, and after a period of civil war, reorganized as a federation. Its capital and largest city is Buenos Aires.
