Overview
Cai was a former vassal Chinese state established in 1045 BCE at the beginning of the Zhou dynasty. It rose to prominence during the Spring and Autumn period. Cai was dissolved in 447 BCE, early in the Warring States period. Its capital cities included Shancai, Xincai, and Shangcai.
