Overview
The County of Savoy was a countship and a feudal state within the Holy Roman Empire. Founded around 1003, it emerged from the collapse of the Burgundian Kingdom in the 11th century, alongside the free communes of Switzerland. The County of Savoy served as the cradle for the future Savoyard state. It was dissolved around 1416.
