Overview
The Duchy of Opole, also known as the Duchy of Oppeln, was one of the duchies of Silesia. It was founded in 1172 CE and dissolved in 1532 CE. The duchy was ruled by a branch of the Polish Piast dynasty, having formed during the medieval fragmentation of Poland into provincial duchies. Its capital was Opole, located in Upper Silesia.
