Overview
The First Hellenic Republic was a provisional Greek state that existed from 1822 to 1832, during the Greek Revolution against the Ottoman Empire. This historiographical concept emphasizes the constitutional and democratic nature of the revolutionary regime before the establishment of the independent Kingdom of Greece. Initially known as the Provisional Administration of Greece from 1822 to 1827, it was subsequently called the Hellenic State between 1827 and 1832. Its capital was Nafplion from 1827.
