Overview
The Free and Hanseatic City of Lübeck was a city-state that existed from 1226 to 1937. Located in what is now the German states of Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, it was also known as the Free City of Lübeck. This entity was dissolved in 1937, marking the end of its long history as an independent city-state.
